iphone rumors
June 2, 2008 – 9:42 amOK- the hype is building with the second coming of the jesus phone a few days or weeks away. There are no shortages of rumors on the new iphone - but I thought I would knit together my favorties here. I currently use a Blackberry Curve on AT&T (prior to that I had a BB 8800). I didn’t buy the first gen iphone mainly because it didn’t have GPS. I am excited about the rumors that the second gen iphone will have GPS. I really want to buy one but need to it have a few new features first. If it were up to me, here is what I would want in the new iphone.
- GPS - once you have it, you can’t go back
- 3G - the iphone’s multimedia capabilities are crying for faster data transfer
- More powerful CPU that uses less power - everyone loves a new processor
- 32GB hard drive - seems like the minimum amount to replace my ipod
- 5 megapixel camera - this would be good enough to replace my point and shoot camera
- Video recording - I would no longer need to carry my flip camera around anymore
- Video conferencing - a second camera in front for face to face conversations would be cool (although I am not sure if I would use it that much)
- Solar cell charging built into display - this would help extend battery life
- Contact synching with Gmail and/or Outlook
If all of these features were on the new iPhone, it would be a no brainer (I could even live without the last three features) for me to buy it. The new iPhone could be the closest thing to an all-in-one device for me. My Blackberry is great but the small screen makes it impossible to do some things like review documents, spreadsheets and some images. Also, surfing the web is limiting due to the smaller screen. The new iPhone would also allow me to not carry a laptop on shorter business trips (1 - 3 days) and vacations (of any length).
Now I sit and wait…
[UPDATE: 6/9/08]
All I got for WWDC was 3G, GPS, and Synching…no 32GB model either. Whaaaaaa!
