featured watch 1
June 13, 2008 – 5:27 pmIf you know me, then you know I like to talk about watches. I also like to collect them and currently own nine different watches. One of the more unusual ones I own is a Swiss made digital watch from Ventura called the v-tec delta. Ventura went out of business recently, so I imagine my watch will go up in value since you can’t buy it anymore. I do not buy watches to hold and sell, so even if it were worth 10X what I paid, I wouldn’t part with it.
This watch has a lot of features that really made me have to have it. Unlike most digital displays, this one has a unique font developed by the company and each numeric value is comprised of 13 elements (vs the more usual 7). It has a scroll wheel (Ventura calls it EasySkroll) that is used to navigate through the various display options. You can activate or set the various functions by pressing inwards on the scroll wheel. In the picture below it is displaying the current time (with seconds) and the date (m d y). There are options to display the current time as 12h or 24h, with or without the seconds, and you can change the date display from m d y to d m y or y m d. Additional functions are: stop watch, count down timer, alarm, and second time zone. When traveling, the second time zone comes in handy because when you get to your destination, you scroll to that function and press in the scroll wheel and it swaps the time zones so your current time zones becomes your second time zome. This is cool because now the alarm works in the new time zone too.
I get a lot of compliments when wearing this watch due to its shape and design. For some reason architects are really drawn to it. I think it has a retro look mixed with a modern design that makes it look so attractive.
